Where...

The Cedar Beach Triathlon and Aquathlon takes place at Cedar Beach Park in Miller Place, NY.

Date & Time...

Sunday, October 9, 2011. The first swim wave will hit the water at 7:30 AM. The Transition area will open at 5:30 AM. Race management reserves the right to modify or shorten the race course in the case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, and to accept or reject any entry. No transfers, substitutions. The minimum age to compete is 13.

In the instance that the swim is cancelled, racers will do one loop of the run course in place of the swim. The start of the run format will also be in waves.

Packet Pick Up dates and locations...

Below are the locations and times that we will be having packet pickup for the event. Please note the date change to October 7th.

October 7, 2011 - 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sunrise Tri in West Babylon. Click for Info.
October 8, 2011 - 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Cedar Beach Park.
October 9, 2011 - 5:30 am -7:00 am at Cedar Beach Park.

Parking Details...

All Athletes and Spectators must park their vehicles in the main parking lots of the park. No cars are to be parked on the sides of the roads. We encourage everyone to car pool to the race site to help with parkng and to off set our carbon foot print.

The Swim Course...

The 1/2 Mile Swim takes place in the Long Island Sound. Please note that the water temperature is usually between 67-71 degrees for this race. The swim is a Wave Start with Age Group Waves beginning at 7:00 AM. There will be Lifeguard Support on Kayaks, Jet Skis and boats. We will have the exit of the swim carpeted to prevent anyone from getting cut on the shells by the waters edge. Swim is Wetsuit Legal.

The Bike Course

The bike is a two loop 7.5 mile course through the town of Miller Place. The Direction of the course is counter clockwise.
Route:
Riders will make a Left out of the Cedar Beach Parking lot onto Harbor Beach Road. Stay on Harbor Beach Road.
Riders will make a RIGHT Turn on to Pipe Stave Hollow Road.
Stay on Pipe Stave Hollow Road and Cross over North Country Road.
Continue on Pipe Stave Hollow Road to Echo Avenue.
Make a LEFT on to Echo Avenue.
Stay on Echo Avenue all the way to Lower Rocky Point Road.
Make a Left on to Lower Rocky Point Road.
Make a Right on to North Country Road.
Make a Right on to Landing Road and stay on Landing as it merges into Harbor Beach Road.
Take Harbor Beach Road all the way back to the beach parking lot and make a U-Turn at the Park Booth.

2nd Loop

After completing the first loop of the bike course racers will make a U-turn at the park booth and head back out onto the same bike course.

Finish

After completing two loops you will head back to the Transition Area. Slow down when approaching the parking lot. Re-enter the parking lot by making a right at the entrance and dismount your bike at the dismount line.

The Run Course

The run course is a two loop 1.55 mile course along Cedar Beach. It's a flat and fast run, so get your legs ready. The first half of the loop is on a running path. After getting off the running path you will be running in a coned off section of the roadway. Please stay to the left of the cones in the alley designated for the run. The run course will have water and Hammer Nutrition at each stop. There are two aid stations on the run course.

Triathlon Race Clinic presented by Gary Jensen, Head Coach of Division 1 Multisport.

Date TBA - 8:00 AM at Cedar Beach Park.

Gary is the owner and head coach of Division one Multisport, 4 time USAT All-American, 18x triathlon/duathlon overall winner and 2nd in Cedar beach past two years.  Gary will go over race course, strategy, transitions, and a slow loop of both bike and run course.  Contact Gary at jensengary@yahoo.com to let him know you are going to attend or to ask any questions.

Triathlon Race Clinic presented by Ken Robins.

October 8, 2011 - 3:00 - 4:30 pm at Cedar Beach Park.

Ken was the Northeast regional road tri champ for 2008 and placed 4th overall in Cedar beach the last two years. He is also a 6 time Xterra regional champion and has raced in many national and world championships. The clinic will be taught on Saturday the 10th from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. You can come on down and take the clinic then pick up your race packet for the race the next day. Ken will go over nutrition before, during and after race, transition setup, swim, bike and run tatics and a slow pre-ride of the bike course. Plus he will show you a lot of his own tricks that he uses during his races. So if you want to beat that friend of yours come on down to this free clinic. Ken will open it up to questions and help you with your transition area. Contact Ken at champxterra@yahoo.com to let him know you will be attending. He will respond to you with any other details.

Relays

There will be one Relay division this year. Relay teams can be made up of 2 or 3 person teams of either men or women. It's up to you how you want to divide up the Swim, Bike and Run.

Custom Awards

Overall Male Triathlon
1st - 3rd will receive Medals and Cash Prize. 1st $300, 2nd $200 and 3rd $100
Overall Female Triathlon
1st - 3rd will receive Medals and Cash Prize. 1st $300, 2nd $200 and 3rd $100
Age Group Triathlon
1st - 3rd will receive Medals.
Relay Triathlon
1st - 3rd will receive Medals.

Out of respect for the other athletes, YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE YOUR AWARD. NO AWARDS WILL BE MAILED. Please note that if you race as a Clydesdayle or Athena you are not eligible for an overall award.

Post Race Lunch Feast

Back again will be the best post Lunch Feast around provided by Pollo Rico of Centereach, NY. Extra tickets for family and friends for the lunch can be purchased at the time of registration so we can have an accurate head count.

Timing Services

Tri and Du It Multisport will be timing the event, utilizing the state of the art AMB ChipX Timing System. You'll receive 5 Splits: Swim Time, Transition 1, Bike, Transition 2, and Run times.

Massage

Post race massage provided by True Sport Care.
