The Webb Institute, Glen Cove, NY
The race site is located about 5 minutes from the Town of Glen Cove.

Date and Time
Sunday, May 22, 2011. The first swim wave will hit the water at 7:00 AM. The Transition area will open at 5:00 AM. Race management reserves the right to modify or shorten the race course in the case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, and to accept or reject any entry. No transfers, substitutions. The minimum age to compete is 13.
Athletes MUST pick up their packets on either Tuesday evening (May 16th), from 5-8 PM at Jack Rabbit Sports in Manhattan, Wednesday evening May (17th), from 4-8 PM at Sunrise Tri Bike Shop in West Babylon, NY or on Saturday (May 21st), at Webb Institute, between the hours of 4-6 PM. Check in at the Webb Institute will be held in the front courtyard by the Main Building.
Parking Details
Parking will once again be at the Glen Cove High School located on Dosoris Road. We will be providing shuttle service to and from Webb Institute on a 15-20 minute cycle. We recommend that all athletes plan to ride to the race site. It's about 1.25 miles to Webb from the High School. Family members and spectators will be able to ride the shuttle free of charge and will be dropped off at the Main Gate.
The
Swim Course
The 1/2 Mile Swim takes place in the Long Island Sound in a partially protected cove. Please note that the water temperature will be between 54-59 degrees for this race. Wetsuit booties and Neoprene cap are recommended for the swim and Wetsuits are MANDATORY. The swim is a Wave Start with an Elite Wave at 7:00 am for those trying to win the race and then 4 Age Group Waves with about 100 participants in each wave. There will be Lifeguard Support on Kayaks, Surfboards and Boats.
The
Bike Course
The Scenic mostly flat bike course is made up of two loops of 6.76 miles through the town of Glen Cove. You'll be cycling past some of the biggest houses and properties on the North Shore of Long Island. The Direction of the course is counter-clockwise and will be controlled by the Town of Glen Cove Police Department. This is a draft-free event! Marshals will be enforcing USA Triathlon drafting guidelines. You must know the rules! All athletes must have ansi-snell or CPSC approved helmets to participate. No Ipods of any type of Headphones are allowed while riding. This will result in an Automatic DQ. Sunrise Tri Bike Shop will be on hand to proivde bike technical service for all racers
Route:
Out of the Transition Area Riders will make a Right Turn on the Interior Campus Road. This is a SLOW ZONE due to the narrowness of the road. This road will take you to Crescent Beach Road.
Riders will make a Left onto Crescent Beach Road.
Riders will make a Right onto Crescent Beach Road and Head South to Woolsey Avenue.
Riders will make Left onto Woolsey Avenue.
Riders will make a Left onto Dosoris Road and head North.
Riders will make a Right onto Old Tappan Road.
Riders will make a Left onto Lattingtown Road and Stay on Lattingtown Road all the way back to Dosoris Road.
Riders will make a Left onto Dosoris Road and head South.
Riders will make a Right onto New Woods Road.
Riders will make a Right onto Crescent Beach Road and head North.
2nd Loop
Upon approaching the Main Gate of Webb Institute begin to SLOW DOWN for the U-Turn. Make the U-Turn and Head South on Crescent Beach Road to do the same loop again.
Finish
After completing two loops you will head back to the Transition Area.
Slow down when approaching the Main Gate of Webb Insitute.
After passing the U-Turn point make a Left Turn down Crescent Beach Road.
You will then make a Right Turn back into the back gate of Webb Institute and be on the interior road.
This again is a SLOW Zone. There is no passing in this area.
Dismount your bike at the line and head back into the Transition Area.
The Run Course
The run course is one Loop in Welwyn Preserve. Some parts of the run are on walkways and roads, but a majority is inside the park on the trails. Once out of Transition you will head back down towards the water and run along the sea wall for a short period and then head up onto the Webb Soccer Field. A short Dash across the field and you will come to the ROCK. The ROCK is by the fence into Welwyn Preserve and you will need to go over it or around it. Once in Welwyn Preserve you'll head down to the water for a run along the waters edge before heading into the forest for the trail portion of the run. You should be prepared for rocks, roots and running on trails. It's beautiful inside the preserve. Once you complete the trail portion you will be on the Welwyn Preserve Roads and head out the Front Gate and head down Crescent Beach Road to the Main Gate of Webb Institute. From the Main Gate you'll be greeted by the View of Webb and by the cheering fans as you come down the home stretch. There will be water stops just before you get onto the trails and once you come out of them by the gate of the Preserve. We'll have Water and Gu at each stop being handed out by some great volunteers.
Relays
There will be one Relay division this year. Relay teams can be made up of 2 or 3 person teams of either men or women. It's up to you how you want to divide up the Swim, Bike and Run.

1st - 5th will receive Plaques and Cash Prize.
1st $500, 2nd $400, 3rd $300, 4th $200 and 5th $100
Overall Female
1st - 5th will receive Plaques and Cash Prize.

Age Group
1st - 3rd will receive Medals.
Relay
1st - 3rd will receive Medals.
Out of respect for the other athletes, YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE YOUR AWARD. NO AWARDS WILL BE MAILED. Please note that if you race as a Clydesdayle or Athena you are not eligible for an overall award.

Post Race Breakfast Feast
Back again will be the best post race breakfast around. The Webb Institute Culinary Management Staff will once again be preparing a hot and cold breakfast of such tasty treats as eggs, waffles, sausages, fruit, bagels, orange juice and coffee for all participants. Extra tickets for family and friends for the breakfast can be purchased at time of registration so we can have an accurate head count.
Timing Services
Tri and Du It Multisport will be timing the event, utilizing the state of the art AMB ChipX Timing System. You'll receive 5 Splits: Swim Time, Transition 1, Bike, Transition 2, and Run times.

On Saturday, May 29th and Sunday, May 30th we will be collecting items for our care package to be sent to US Troops in Afghanistan. Help support our troops and troop morale by donating some care package items to be sent over.
