The XTERRA Lake Placid Triathlon takes place in Lake Placid, NY. The transition area and XTERRA Village will be in the Olympic Ice Skating Oval.
The race site is located about 2.5 hours North of Albany, NY and 2.5 hours South of Montral, CAN.

Date & Time...

Sunday, August 22, 2010. The first swim wave will hit the water at 8:00 AM. The Transition area will open at 6:00 AM. Race management reserves the right to modify or shorten the race course in the case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, and to accept or reject any entry. No transfers, substitutions. The minimum age to compete is 13.

Only the XTERRA Lake Placid Long Course will be awarded XPS Points. The Short Course is just an ORT race.

Athletes MUST pick up their packets on either Friday, August 20th from 12-6 pm, Saturday, August 21st, from 12-6 PM at the XTERRA Lake Placid Expo Area or on Race Morning, Sunday, August 22nd at the XTERRA Lake Placid Expo Area between the hours of 6:00- 7:30 AM.

Parking Details...

All Athletes and Spectators must park their vehicles in designated parking spots in town.

The Swim Course...

The 1500 Meter Swim takes place in the gorgeous Mirror Lake. The Long Course Swim consists of two 750 meter rectangular loops. Short Course racers will do only one loop of the swim. The swim begins with a wave start next to the swim dock. Racers will swim to the right of all bouys. Upon completing the first loop of the swim there is a short 50 foot run on the beach to re-enter the water for the Long Course Racers and complete the same loop. Upon finishing the swim athletes will have to run 1/4 mile to the transition area in the Olympic Oval. For 2010 the whole run to the transition area will be fully carpeted. There will be Lifeguard Support on Kayaks and Jet Skis as well as boats.

XTERRA Lake Placid Triathlon Race Clinic | Saturday, August 21, 2010

Taught by XTERRA ambassador Ken Robins. Ken is a 4 time regional champion who has qualified and competed in numerous national and world xterra championships. The clinic will be taught on Saturday the 30th from 12:00 to 1:30 You can come down and take the clinic then pick up your race packet for the race the next day. Ken will go over nutrition before, during and after race, transition setup, swim, bike and run tactics and a slow pre-ride of bike course. Plus he will show you alot of his own tricks that he uses during his races. So if you just want to finish your first race or beat that buddy or friend come on down to this free clinic. XTERRA Lake Placid Swim Clinic | Friday, August 20 and Saturday August 21, 2009

Total Immersion of Lake Placid, NY will be leading two swim clinics during the weekend. More information and times will be posted soon.

Meeting place will be at the Mirrior Lake beach.

Relays

There will be one Relay division this year. Relay teams can be made up of 2 or 3 person teams of either men or women. It's up to you how you want to divide up the Swim, Bike and Run.

Custom Awards

Overall Male

1st - 5th will receive Medals and Cash Prize. 1st $500, 2nd $400 and 3rd $300, 4th $200 and 5th $100.

Overall Female

1st - 5th will receive Medals and Cash Prize. 1st $500, 2nd $400 and 3rd $300, 4th $200 and 5th $100.

Age Groups

1st - 3rd will receive Medals.

Relay

1st - 3rd will receive Medals.

Out of respect for the other athletes, YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE YOUR AWARD. NO AWARDS WILL BE MAILED.
Please note that if you race as a Clydesdayle or Athena you are not eligible for an overall award.

Ammenities

All Athletes will receive a t-shirt, the best goody bags, imprinted swim cap, finishers medal, waterbottle, custom awards, participants' raffle, great giveaways from XTERRA WETSUITS, XTERRA GEAR, CANON CAMERAS, and POLAR HEART RATE MONITORS, complimentary post-race lunch, Tri and Du It Multisport timing featuring AMB ChipX Timing Chip, best volunteers and staff anywhere, accurate, spectacular, and safe race course.

Carbo Load

Tri and Du It Multisport along with the Crowne Plaza of Lake Placid will be hosting the XTERRA Lake Placid Pasta Dinner. The dinner will begin at 7 pm and will consist of Tossed Salad with assorted dressings, Penne and Linguini Pastas, Marinara and Pesto Sauces, Grilled Chicken, Rolls with butter and sheet cake as dessert. You can pre purchase tickets during registration.

Post Race Lunch Feast

In keeping with our XTERRA tradition we will be having a finger licking good post race feast. We will be having great Italian Food, Fruit and much much more for you to scarf down. Extra tickets for family and friends for the lunch can be purchased at the time of registration so we can have an accurate head count.

Timing Services

Tri and Du It Multisport will be timing the event, utilizing the state of the art AMB ChipX Timing System. You'll receive 5 Splits: Swim Time, Transition 1, Bike, Transition 2, and Run times.
