New for 2010 is the XTERRA Long Island Trail Run Series. The XTERRA Long Island Trail Run Series consists of 3 trail runs located in Stillwell Woods, Bethpage State Park and Gyrodyne Sports Complex.

The XTERRA National Trail Run Series is grouped into geographic regions, and each region has anywhere from 3-to-7 races that runners can compete in and accumulate points towards their regional championship. 

Regional Champions are awarded free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship  - an off-road half-marathon to be held on September 13, 2009 in Bend, OR.

In addition to earning Regional Points towards the championship Tri and Du It Multisport will be crowning an XTERRA Long Island Trail Run Series Champion with a $1200 prize purse.
